For many service providers, one of the goals they set for themselves when starting their online business is to reduce their working hours, yet still bring in a sizable income so they can continue supporting their family.
In this post, I’m going to share my top tips for scaling your service-based business to 6+ figures while working less than twenty hours a week. By scaling your business to this level, you’ll enjoy financial security while having the time and freedom to enjoy your life.
This is my 5-part S.C.A.L.E. Method that I used to help scale my business, and by following these steps it can help you reach 6+ figures.
Serving your clients
When we talk about serving our clients, we want to make sure that we’re giving our clients the best possible experience. After all, they are the ones paying for your services, and without them, you wouldn’t have a business!
Nurturing your client-based relationships is so crucial to your success and growth, as you’ll be more likely to retain them for a longer time, and they are more likely to refer other people to you.
Creating your systems
Having well thought out systems is essential when trying to scale your service-based business to 6+ figures.
We’re all limited on time in our busy lives, so the last thing you want to be doing is repeating processes over and over again. By having good systems set up from the start, you’ll be able to scale much quicker and more efficiently.
A few of my favorite systems include: on/off-boarding for team & clients, canned email responses, creating workflows, setting up projects with recurring due dates..etc.
Automating your back end
Along the same lines as creating your systems, it’s important to offload some of your tasks to robots who can automate processes for you. This is a more cost-effective alternative to hiring many team members and will also make the experience for you and your potential clients much better.
Your clients will receive their work quickly, and you won’t have to review work from your team members, saving you precious time.
My all-time favorite tool to help you automate your business is Zapier. It connects virtually every platform together in the online space!
Leading your team
As you step into the CEO role of your business, leading and managing your team should become your number one priority, especially if you choose to go the agency route.
After you’ve offloaded most of your client-facing tasks to team members, it’s crucial to check in on the happiness levels of your team members and nurture their growth within your company.
Examining your mindset
The final part of my S.C.A.L.E Method is all about your mindset, which is an essential part of growing your business regardless of what stage you are in. Once you get to the point of scaling and you step into the role of CEO, you are going to experience more mindset issues, such as self-doubt and concern about hiring others.
To ensure your growth isn’t stunted, you are going to want to move through these negative thought patterns, so you don’t get stuck in your head and stunt your own growth. If you don’t have the right mindset, you will reduce your chances of success and achieving your goal of having a six-figure business.
