Mom Boss Monday (Caz Taylor)Feb 15, 2021
This weekly blog post highlights women who are successfully running their online business while managing a household to #NormalizeTheShitShow that comes with the territory of “doing it all”.
These moms are going to share the messy side of running their biz & raising kids, what a typical day in the life looks like (does this even exist?!), how they deal with mom guilt and SO MUCH MORE!
You're getting a sneak peek into what their life looks like so you don't have to feel bad when you haven't bathed your kids in weeks & they have avocado in their hair as they lay in their crib (guilty 🙋🏼♀️).
This week we’re hanging out with Caz Taylor of Launch-ology.
Explain what you do & who you service in your business.
I help online entrepreneurs figure out their next passive offer that will complement their product suites. I help them make sure they get MADE and ready to launch ASAP. This allows them to have more free time at home and make money while they sleep! Then they can do more of the important things in life, like watch Harry Potter and John Wick on repeat. (Or is that just me?)
How many kids do you have? What are their ages?
I have two boys! I have a 9-year-old firecracker who suffers with ADHD and anxiety. I also have a 15-year-old, with all the delights (and smells) that come with teenage boys!
What makes you unique as a mom & business owner?
I'm a side-hustling mama of two messy boys, so I know the struggle of running a business with kids! I'm an idea generator. I literally cannot help myself, but think of ways to monetize things - even in day-to-day life!
I'm also Six Sigma Trained (a corporate efficiency technique), so I'm a fan of the simplest methods to get things done. In addition, I love to rearrange furniture for anxiety relief, take seriously long walks (and get lost), and drop Harry Potter references all over the internet!
What's the hardest part of running your business and being a mom?
Staying motivated! Getting home from work, then trying to churn out social content is my biggest struggle. Once this ass is comfy on a sofa, you better believe its gonna grab a book and probably avoid writing posts!
What is one "messy" thing about being a mom/biz owner that you would never share in public?
Behind the scenes note-taking! My brain goes faster than my pen and that can lead to piles of illegible notes. I leave half-filled notebooks in my wake all around the house and there's probably a pen in every pocket that I own!
In addition, I struggle with eating "proper" meals. I'm a terrible cook, so I'm a habitual snacker of biscuits with my cuppas at my desk. However, trust me when I say that a packet of Hob Nobs does not constitute a meal!
I'm still on my journey to making time for proper food, but I'm getting better. I'm learning how to make some real recipes this year. Feel free to send me your favorites!
What does a "typical" day look like for you (I know this doesn't exist but let's pretend).
A typical day in the life of this house elf looks a little like this:
Get up, pee, make packed lunches, wake kids, feed them (because apparently they constantly need food), ship them off to school! Hooray!
Enjoy morning cuppa in peace, get washed, and dressed!
Off to work!
Sven check! (The robo mower who likes to think he's part squirrel), rescue Sven from said tree, go to work, clean house, shine surfaces until I can see my face in them, fold loo roll into triangles, hoover, and leave!
Home for lunch, watch a bit of whatever Harry Potter movie is on.
Tidy up. Power hour for my own house cleaning, then power hour for my business!
Tykes back from school!
Homework and chat with kids
Dinner (They need feeding multiple times a day! Who knew?!)
Sit on sofa and go on IG, try to make new friends, and post Harry Potter references pretty much everywhere!
Do some more work on my business or play games with the kids, then little one wind down time, music, lights, storyline, tell big one to get off the Xbox.
Tell him again, one more time for luck!
Sit on bottom with book, get distracted by phone, wonder where the evening went, then head to bed to read, fall asleep with book on face!
Do you ever feel mom guilt?
Yes for sure! I feel it mostly when I'm working on my business when the kids are at home! I try to share as much as possible with them, so they can understand why I'm building my empire and what big dreams I have.
I honestly believe it paves the way for them to see they have more options than just "get a job" after school.
What's your favorite thing about being a mom/biz owner?
In a practical sense, F-L-E-X-I-B-I-L-I-T-Y!!
I can do my work to suit, not just my mood/energy, but I can be here if the kids need me. I can work wherever and whenever I want!
From a soul filling/lighting me up point of view, it's getting messages from moms who are inspired and seeing results from my content.
I love to share in their excitement and achievements! (Missed my calling as a cheerleader on account of my short ass, oh and not being in the US!)
What's ONE piece of advice would you give to other moms in the entrepreneurial space?
Keep it simple. Far too often in life and in business, we try to do it all when "all" is not what we need to get ahead. Simplify anything and everything.
And just start! Learning "on the job" will give you the experience and answer the questions you have. Start today! There's never a better time than now!
Hang out with Caz online!
